Barksville Blizzard, Week 4: The Yeti Joins the Feast

Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works

In week 4 of Barksville Blizzard (November 2025), Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano explored a calming sensory den of soft blankets, solved lick mat puzzles and riddle boxes, and practiced balance walking across a table.

The Yeti’s secret was out. In the final week of the Barksville Blizzard, the pups discovered his snowy den: soft blankets, snowflakes and the soothing scent of chamomile. What they found wasn’t a monster at all, but a cozy friend who wanted to share his calm. A brave step into the snow, and comfort waiting on the other side.

Best of all, the Yeti brought the feast supplies back, and then he joined the party.

What the dogs did

  • Yeti’s Snowy Den: a calming sensory set of soft blankets, snowflakes and chamomile.
  • Yeti Feast Puzzle: a buffet of pupcicles, muffin tins and lick mats, each covered with tennis balls or crumpled paper, for the ultimate find-your-feast challenge.
  • Yeti Riddle Boxes: the Yeti brought a game for game night, with secret treasure hidden under flaps, lids and towels. Every smart move brought the pups closer to restoring the feast and welcoming the Yeti home.
  • Banquet Table Balance: each dog carefully crossed the “banquet table,” practicing balance, focus and confidence and walking tall with the supplies they had worked so hard to recover.
  • Gravy Boat Dance: Pack Leaders and pups moved together in sync, weaving and spinning side by side for the grand finale. Even the Yeti couldn’t resist a good groove.

Thanksgiving brought a full house, and on Black Friday we offered pups the gift of calm while their families shopped. Thank you for sharing and trusting your family with ours.

And on the very last day of November, more breaking news reached Barksville: the Chaos Cats had shredded Santa Paws’ Nice Dog List. But a mysterious figure, the Ghost of Canine Christmas, had been spotted in the snow carrying a glowing object. December’s adventure was about to begin.
