The Lost City of Puplantis, Week 3: The Search for the Sacred Sea Bone
Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works
In week 3 of the under-the-sea theme The Lost City of Puplantis (May 2026), Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano sniffed through sunken ruins, hunted hidden scented cloths and dehydrated fish skins, then relaxed on lick mats.
Now fully beneath the surface, the dogs drew close to Puplantis itself, and this is where everything came together. In the old stories, the Sacred Sea Bone isn’t a prize. It’s a symbol, a reminder of the balance the city was built on, and it was never meant to be found through speed or force.
Instead of a single spot on the map, the explorers found several resting points, each testing a different instinct the Puplantians once honored. The trails called for scent, movement, social awareness and problem-solving to work in harmony, and progress only came when those instincts were balanced, not ignored. By the end of the week, the Sacred Sea Bone was discovered.

On the week 3 menu
- Sunken Ruins Trail — low obstacles, draped fabric and textured flooring to sniff through like underwater ruins.
- Seaweed Curtain Choice — three spaces behind seaweed-like fabric strips, and only one leads to the reward.
- Find It… With Me — a handler hides a scented cloth, searches alongside the dog and celebrates the find.
- Sea Bone Level Hunt — the Bone could be above, below or just out of easy reach.
- Tide Turn Licki Mats — treat spreads on lick mats for calm focus after all that searching.
What the explorers found
Lola arrived all geared up and ready to make a splash. The reefs below revealed the ruins of a city, with hanging items, floor covers and snuffles to investigate, and the deeper the dogs went into the coral forests and seaweed bushes, the more treasures of Puplantis they found. Scattered frozen sea life raised a new question: had the city frozen in the cold depths?
Fish bones turned out to be an important part of Puplantis culture. Luckily they’re super smelly, so wherever the tides had carried them, our sea explorers sniffed them out, with dehydrated fish skins bringing this one straight from the water. With the city found, the explorers also had to choose which pieces of lost history to bring back to the Barksville Museum. Divot, as always when enrichment is on, was all smiles, and we think Cotton would make a perfect mermaid.

Enrichment is an add-on to any daycare day at Metro Animals — ask for it at drop-off, by the day, the week or the whole month. It’s part of the program that earned us the highest score in the country at the 2024 Dog Gurus Daycare Games.
