Around the World in 28 Sniffs, Week 2: The Mediterranean
Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works
In week 2 of Around the World in 28 Sniffs (March 2026), Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano sniffed out hidden treats in a Mediterranean market, followed a spice scent path and helped fix mixed-up packages.
Next stop: the Mediterranean. This week the dogs of Barksville strolled the streets with cool sea breezes blowing through their fur and the smell of cooking drifting through the air, and they even took boat rides through the canals.
What the dogs did this week
- The market — travel can make you hungry, and the Mediterranean isn’t just for sightseeing. The dogs explored the market and everything it has to offer, from textiles and perfumes to fish and fruit, using their noses carefully to find the hidden treats.
- A scent path through the crowds — busy markets make it easy to get lost, or to buy more than you came for. A natural spice wax scent stick marked a path straight to the one shop the dogs needed. Lose the scent and you might never get out on time!
- Packages in a muddle — people and dogs aren’t the only things that travel the world. A pile of packages with important places to go had been put together all wrong, so the dogs helped out by making each one perfect for travel.
- Strolling like a local — skipping the hectic tourist attractions, the dogs walked through town for the most immersive experience possible.
In Plano, Bonus loved his visit to the Mediterranean market. In Fort Worth it was all smiles and tail wags, because whatever a dog’s interests or temperament, there is an activity to match.

How to join the next adventure
Enrichment is an add-on to any daycare day at Metro Animals — ask for it at drop-off, by the day, the week or the whole month. It’s part of the program that earned us the highest score in the country at the 2024 Dog Gurus Daycare Games. Read more about how our enrichment works, and if your pup is new to the pack, find your nearest location — every new dog’s first day is free.
It’s a great day to play!
