A Barksville Wedding, Week 2: The Proposal

Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works

In week 2 of A Barksville Wedding (February 2026), Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano hunted for flowers, sniffed out a rose, explored a fairy-light tunnel, followed a love-letter trail, and enjoyed scented bubbles.

Nobody realized it at the time, but Luna choosing Baxter on the show was the start of something much bigger. Their first date was nothing more than a play session with a few toys and a small sniff trail, yet the handlers were soon whispering that this was a proper match. All of Barksville followed the romance like the greatest soap opera on television, and some swore they could hear wedding bells whenever the pair trotted past.

With Valentine’s Day close, Baxter had a plan. He may have been smooth on the show, but he was not so smooth on the creative side, so he called in his bachelor crew to help him set up the perfect dates.

What the dogs did this week

  • A bouquet for Luna. Pink is her favorite color, so the dogs went on the hunt for the prettiest flowers for Baxter’s bouquet.
  • The single rose. Just like on the shows, Baxter needed one special rose. With so many to choose from, the dogs used their noses to pick out the freshest, best-smelling one.
  • The tunnel of love. Rose petals and fairy lights made a romantic entrance to a dinner date.
  • The proposal. Love letters, rose petals and hearts led the way to a snuffle of love and a special ring for a special girl.
  • The bubble party. Scented, dog-safe bubbles in peanut butter, birthday cake, apple pie and blueberry, always a big hit in group enrichment.

Valentine’s week also brought out the kissing booth for photo shoots, and by Sunday the groomsmen had their ties on, cleaning up very nicely for the bachelor party and the big day ahead.

Baxter won over the girl of his dreams. Next stop: wedding bells, with parties for the bachelors and the bachelorettes first, and every pup invited.
