The Watermelon Party at Metro Animals

Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works

In July 2026, Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano enjoyed a Watermelon Party with watermelon slices, a beach-style set with surfboards and flower leis, and a kiddie pool filled with watermelon chunks and play balls.

Nothing says Texas summer like a slice of watermelon. As July wrapped up, our daycare pups in Fort Worth and Plano got a party built around exactly that: the Watermelon Party.

In Fort Worth, the party doubled as a celebration. Our pups had just completed their Space Camp cadet training, so the crew marked the moment the only way a dog would want to, one bite at a time. The set looked straight off a beach, with surfboards, palm leaves, cardboard coconuts, flower leis and a picnic blanket, and pack leaders served up the slices by hand.

Over in Plano, the picnic came with checkered blankets, summer bandanas, a whole watermelon on display and a kiddie pool scattered with watermelon chunks and play balls.

Families added the Watermelon Party to their pup’s reservation, and the fun ran into the first days of August. Judging by these faces, it was a sweet way to say goodbye to July.
