Indiana Bones and the Great Easter Egg Relic, Week 3: The Egg Hunt

Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works

In week 3 of the Indiana Bones temple adventure (April 2026), Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano sniffed out the right item, searched for small hidden eggs, solved puzzles and explored walkways and baskets together.

Week three brought the crew closer to the relic, and the temple itself began to change. Spring was on the horizon: grass patches, vines and flowers started popping up all through the temple.

First came a test of the explorers’ ID skills. Using their sense of smell, the dogs had to pick out the right item for the adventure while steering clear of traps. Then they practiced for the real egg hunt, sniffing and searching for every hidden egg. The eggs are small and the temple is large, but the Bones crew was all over it. By the weekend the Great Easter Egg Relic was being revealed, and the job became restoring it carefully, because finding the relic doesn’t mean the booby traps are gone.

What the dogs did this week

  • Explorer ID skills — finding the correct item by scent.
  • Egg hunt practice — searching the temple for small hidden eggs.
  • Puzzles — solving puzzles and learning new things along the way.
  • Group texture enrichment — exploring the wooden walkways and the temple’s wicker baskets together as a pack.
  • The relic revealed — careful work to restore the relic without setting off any last traps.

Group activities like these help with behavior and engagement in a group. Dogs build spatial awareness and confidence while their friends sniff and try out the objects too, which makes new experiences less scary and more manageable for shy dogs. Not sure your dog will like enrichment? Talk to your pack leaders: activities can be leveled up or down, with modifications, to give every pup the best experience.

Hank set off ready for the long, treacherous path to the relic, and Shadow closed out the week all smiles.
