The Monster Hunt, Week 3: The Forgotten Cemetery
Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works
In week 3 of the Monster Hunt (October 2026), a Halloween monster-hunting theme, Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano head into the Forgotten Cemetery to sniff out missing supplies, follow the zombies’ trail, recover scattered bones and wind down by the campfire.
With Lord Scarecrow’s curse lifted, Barksville’s pumpkin harvest is out of danger. But the town had barely caught its breath when the Forgotten Cemetery’s gates creaked open.
Inside, General Grumblegut is raising a skeleton army. Skeleton dogs are only the start: shambling zombies and grouchy old ghouls have fallen in behind him too. Clues to what the army is up to are scattered across the cemetery, and it’s up to our Canine Monster Hunters to collect every one before the General’s ranks get any bigger. So this week, our hunters in Fort Worth and Plano head into the Forgotten Cemetery.

This week’s five missions:
- Graveyard Rations: the Monster Hunters’ supplies have vanished among the gravestones, so noses lead the way as our hunters sniff and forage to win them back.
- Forgotten Graveyard Trail: tracking the zombies along carefully laid-out paths, over natural obstacles and across surfaces that change underfoot.
- Skeleton Bone Recovery: rounding up the bones scattered around the cemetery, so General Grumblegut can’t put his skeleton army back together.
- Campfire Wind Down: a quiet finish by the campfire, where our team helps each dog unwind with gentle attention and lots of praise.
- Wall of the Ancient Spirits: reaching up, stretching out and stepping across different textures to check out curious objects set high and low.
Week 3 mixes detective work and movement with real time to settle down at the end, and our team guides every dog through each mission with close attention and plenty of care.
Halloween costume contest
Week 3 also kicks off our Halloween costume contest at all three daycares: Metro 1, Metro 2 and Plano. From Monday, October 19 through Saturday, October 31, bring your dog to drop-off in costume on any day they’re booked. After Halloween we pick one winner at each daycare, each winner gets a free day of daycare, and we announce the winners on our social pages. See how the costume contest works.
Our hunters in the Forgotten Cemetery
Our first photos from the cemetery come from Fort Worth, where Geordy proved to be a great detective at finding enchanted bones.

More photos from the cemetery will be added here as the hunt goes on.
Can our hunters collect the clues and send General Grumblegut back underground where he belongs? The cemetery gates are open.

How to join the next adventure
Enrichment is an add-on to any daycare day at Metro Animals — ask for it at drop-off, by the day, the week or the whole month. It’s part of the program that earned us the highest score in the country at the 2024 Dog Gurus Daycare Games. Read more about how our enrichment works, and if your pup is new to the pack, find your nearest location — every new dog’s first day is free.
It’s a great day to play!
