Canine Space Camp, Week 4: Mission Accomplished
Why enrichment? Enrichment gives dogs an outlet for their natural instincts (sniffing, searching, solving) and works their brain, not just their legs. A few minutes of sniff-and-search or puzzle work takes real effort, so dogs go home happily tired: body exercised, brain satisfied, confidence a little bigger. How our enrichment works
In week 4 of Canine Space Camp (July 2026), Metro Animals daycare dogs in Fort Worth and Plano ran obstacle courses, tried new food textures, explored a sensory water pool, played social games and graduated as space cadets.
Mission Control had big news: the Canine Space Cadets entered the final phase of their training. After weeks of obstacle courses, enrichment challenges and hidden discoveries, the cadets had their final missions to complete before officially graduating from Space Camp, and our team was ready to celebrate their accomplishments.
On this week’s menu
- Alien Food Lab Experience — meals served through new textures, scents and feeding formats.
- Splashdown Sensory Pool Experience — water, movement and unique textures in a safe setting.
- Alien Communication Game — learning and responding to new signals and cues.
- Welcome Home Pawty — social enrichment and play with caregivers and fellow cadets.
- Splashdown Landing Course — a final obstacle course of ramps, soft landings and controlled descents.

The final missions
First came an emergency: there had been a terrible crash, and cadets in Fort Worth and Plano had to jump, weave and run through the wreckage to make it back to base. Porter, a Space Safety Pro, showed his fellow cadets how to survive it. Cadets tasted the goodies the galaxies have to offer, helped charge up the generators to give the rocket its power, and took over Mission Control, switching all gears to on and making final checks before blast off. Hank said he was all ready to run Mission Control, Princess reported for duty ready for a spacewalk through the Milky Way, and in Plano, Olive was ready for takeoff.
Every activity can be leveled up or down, which makes enrichment a great confidence builder for shy and more cautious dogs, not just an outlet for the energetic ones. In the last days of July, cadets passed their final drills with their pack leaders and became official Space Cadets, and a watermelon party celebrated all their hard work. Learned, grown, explored, succeeded: mission complete. Mission Control is already preparing the next adventure.

How to join the next adventure
Enrichment is an add-on to any daycare day at Metro Animals — ask for it at drop-off, by the day, the week or the whole month. It’s part of the program that earned us the highest score in the country at the 2024 Dog Gurus Daycare Games. Read more about how our enrichment works, and if your pup is new to the pack, find your nearest location — every new dog’s first day is free.
It’s a great day to play!
