Since 2005, Metro Animals has been dedicated to providing an environment that promotes the health, safety, emotional well-being, and social needs of dogs in our care.
Tami Anderson-Manager
She wasn't born in Texas but she got here as quickly as she could! Tami finds love in three things... her husband, her Chihuahua, and her other Chihuahua! She grew up in the Seattle area and developed a loving passion for all animals; however, she'll happily admit she's more of a 'dog person' than anything. After arriving in Fort Worth about four years ago, she keeps herself busy working with animals and volunteering at local horse ranches specializing in therapeutic riding for the handicapped. Her hobbies include motorcycle riding with her husband, being an internet junkie, caring for her family, and swimming. With her heart of gold and a magic touch, we're proud to add Tami to our highly qualified and dedicated staff.
Cheryl Barber- Engel-Team Leader
Cheryl was born in Del Rio Texas and has lived all around the state but calls Fort Worth her home. One of her first memories is when her dad brought home a new cocapoo puppy. From that time there were all kinds of pets from dogs to hermit crabs always around. She currently shares her home with her husband and her three dogs Chelsea, a lab mix that was adopted from the Humane Society, Alphie who is a true Heinz 57, and the baby Nina, a 4 year old chihuahua mix. Cheryl has worked in office jobs over the last 10 years. She is very happy to now be working with dogs and helping to bring peace of mind to their owners while they carry on their busy days.
Cady Simpson, In-House Trainer
I'm originally from Tacoma, Washington but have been living here in Fort Worth for the past 5 years with my 4 dogs. 2 dachshunds named Spud and Megan, a shihtzu named Brutus and a boxer mix named Grace. Completing my brood is my recently adopted kitten Harvey and a ball python named Sam. Don't be surprised to spot me at the dog park or the lake running around with any of them! I've grown up with dogs my whole life, as well as cats, birds, horses and even reptiles, thanks to my older brothers love of anything reptilian. An avid animal lover, dogs have always held an extra special place in my heart. I'm forever trying to bring more and more home with me. But currently lacking the space and time for more, I'm so excited to now be a part of Metro Animals, where I can play and interact with more dogs everyday and satiate my doggy needs!
After working various office and customer service jobs which always left me grumbling, I truly feel like I've finally found my niche here. Not only do I leave here every day with a smile on my face, but I leave with a sense of accomplishment as well. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the team and I look forward to meeting you and your fur babies!
Kelly Kincaid
Born, raised, moved and returned to the Fort Worth area Kelly has adored animals from a young age and through her countless hamsters and even an adopted pet garden snake she has clung to her love of dogs the strongest. Coming from a dog owning family full of canines from bulldogs to labs she has no bias when it comes to breeds as a dog lover. She currently owns one rascally terrier named Buddy and three sweet rescue rabbits named Turnip Duke of Broccoli-shire, Baron Snowball Von Snuff-N-Fluff, and Samantha Bellatrix Hershey Bunny. She is currently attending school with an eye to major in Classical vocal performance but also enjoys writing, drawing, and modern dance. Kelly has loved working and taking care of her family’s dogs for years and is very excited to have found a place where she can help many more.
Ashley Brewer
I have lived in Texas for as long as I can remember, with small trips to visit my dad in Tennessee in between, and for all that time I have loved animals. When I was a kid and I saw a shooting star I didn’t wish for toys or a new brother like most kids, I wished I could talk to animals. My first pet was a fish, then a hermit crab, then a cat or two, and finally, a dog. Now I have three dogs: a pug named Dori, a yellow lab named Izzy, and a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix named Zeus. That first wish of mine evolved from talking to animals, to wanting to help them and play with them. I wanted to be a vet for the longest time, until I learned how bad I am at science, especially anatomy. So I have finally found a job where I can play with a dog without having to know what muscle connects to his kneecap.
Breanna Bonilla
Bre has always been an animal fan, except for birds, which is quite possibly her biggest phobia. But not to worry, she loves dogs and has three of her own: a Chihuahua called Lafawnduh, and two Pit-bulls called Morena and Belushi. From Fort Worth and proud, Bre graduated from TCU in 2011 and is biding her time before she goes off to graduate school to get her PhD *hopefully*! If she’s not at Metro frolicking with your dogs, she’s probably somewhere doing anything theatre related such as: designing, model building, painting, directing, and acting. If you happen to walk in the building and hear someone singingly loudly (and might I add, magnificently) that’ll probably be Bre serenading one of the dogs.
Melissa Wise
Fort Worth native, I have lived all over the country including several years in California. I have been a cat-person most of my life: Rescue cats “Bob” and “Sonny” were with me 18 years and my current cat “Monty” has been with me 8 fat and happy years. However, I fell in love with dogs while volunteering at Rancho Coastal Humane Society in San Diego. The more time I spent with the dogs, the more I wanted one. Each Sunday I spent the day at “Dog Beach” in Del Mar wishing for a dog of my own. I found her in the form of an Alaskan Klee Kai (mini-husky) - “Zoey”. Now she owns my heart. Although I do not work directly with the dogs at Metro, I make certain to stop by to hug and pet them between shuffling paperwork. I love Metro - the dogs and the humans!
Charlsye Lewis, Owner
Charlsye has been a neurotic animal lover from as far back as she can remember. In addition to her pet dogs and cats, there were possums, snakes, birds, hamsters, and yes, even spiders. As an idealistic high-schooler, she was so distraught over the daily tragedy of squirrels being run over by cars on her street, that she actually petitioned the city council for a "squirrel-crossing" sign to be put up by the city. And the funny thing is-she was successful! While the sign didn't last long, her love of animals only grew stronger.
Charlsye's original career ambitions focused on becoming a veterinarian. She maintained a position as a veterinary technician in high school. The summer before starting college at Texas Christian University, she was delighted to have been chosen for an intensive summer veterinary clinic at Texas A&M University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Ultimately, her ambitions led her in the direction of Metro Animals and the service of Fort Worth dogs and their busy owners. Charlsye has a master's degree from TCU and was also recently honored by the Business and Professional Women of Fort Worth as a notable Female Native American Entrepreneur. She and Marcus started Metro Animals in 2005 to give their own dogs a place to hang out during the day. In her free time, she travels and writes feature articles for ON Magazine.
Marcus Brunt, Owner
Take one look at the scars on Marcus' hands and you will begin to understand his love of animals - one baby Blue Front Amazon parrot in particular. In the process of training this seemingly schizophrenic addition to the family, Marcus endured just a few love bites. His endless patience overcame any frustration with Odie, and they have since formed a lifelong bond going on 17 years.
Marcus loves nothing more than spending time in the company of feathered and furry companions. His ability to understand animals makes him indispensable to the canine customers at Metro Animals. Marcus has called Fort Worth his home for nearly 20 years, pursuing degrees at TCU and UTD, living and working in the area. In his free time, he plays bass trombone. He welcomes the opportunity to get to know all the special dogs living in and around Fort Worth.
